Media Advisory: Mark Your Calendar for the ATIS 5G Symposium Co-Located at Light Reading’s Big Communications Event

WASHINGTON — April 14, 2016 —

Hear from the technologists who are building the 5G future! ATIS brings together the industry’s leading wireless experts to provide their insights at its 5G Symposium co-located at Light Reading’s Big Communications Event (BCE) 2016 in Austin, TX. The event, ATIS’ second 5G Symposium, takes place on Monday, May 23. It features Dave Wolter, Assistant Vice President, Radio Technology, AT&T, as keynote speaker.

Background:  5G’s deployment will be driven by how effectively it addresses challenges such as the explosive growth in the number of mobile devices, increasing IoT applications, and the need for enhanced functionality and performance. The new network will incorporate innovations the ICT industry has been developing that are ready to be put into action. These include NFV and other emerging technologies as well as spectrum enhancements, which will work together to enable new services. With 2020 fast approaching, the timeline for emerging use cases is being identified now. Along with other organizations, ATIS is defining the requirements to create the 5G roadmap — pivotal in how this new technology will meet the demands of the future. Many service providers have already announced 5G trials as they continue to build out their 4G networks.

Come hear the perspectives of ATIS members on how this work will help deliver what promises to be a defining revolutionary and evolutionary technology.
