Media Advisory: ATIS Delivers Insight Into Protecting Remote Electronic Facilities Using AC Power Isolation at ISE Expo 2016

WASHINGTON — Aug. 3, 2016 —

What: As the need for connectivity expands bringing with it increasing need to protect remote electronic carrier equipment, Dan Ashton of CenturyLink and a member of ATIS’ Protection Engineers Group (PEG) takes the stage at this year’s ISE Expo to discuss Protecting Remote Electronic Facilities Using AC Power Isolation.  ISE Expo is the premier educational event for today’s information and communications technology industry.

When and Where: Thursday, September 22, at 9:15 a.m. The ISE Expo takes place September 20 – 22, 2016 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Background: ISE Expo is the industry-leading trade show for wireless and wireline network evolution. ICT network professionals from around the world attend to experience the live demos, engaging educational sessions, commanding keynotes, face-to-face networking and presentation of the latest innovations in infrastructure solutions. The event was formerly known as OSP EXPO.

Protecting Remote Electronic Facilities Using AC Power Isolation will address how remote electronic carrier equipment is often subject to the damaging effects of lightning and unstable commercial power even with adequate grounding and surge protection, and cover:

1. Ground potential rise (GPR) both from lightning and power line to ground faults as it relates to these remote electronic cabinets.
2. The basics of AC Isolation technology.
3. The results of AC isolation on these cabinets during lightning and power line fault caused GPR.

Speaker:  Dan Ashton is a Senior Engineer Technical Support, Electrical Protection, CenturyLink Network Reliability Operations Center (NROC). He speaks on behalf of ATIS Protection Engineers Group , a key industry forum on electrical protection in telecom.  Yearly, ATIS PEGhosts the Protection Engineers Group Conference. The location for this event is forthcoming.  Visit www.atis.org/peg for updates.
