WHAT/WHEN:  3GPP delivered the first complete set of 3GPP standards for 5G in Release 15 and is further enhancing 5G in Release 16. Plans for Release 17 are also underway. This webinar recaps the Release 15 content, providing an up-to-date view of 3GPP’s work with a particular focus on how it is expanding 5G capabilities and enhancing the mobile system’s technical performance. SPEAKERS: ATIS Principal Technologist Iain Sharp provides an overview of ATIS and 3GPP, 3GPP structure as well as the 3GPP release plan.

Services – Farrokh Khatibi, Director of Engineering, Qualcomm covers 5G requirements and services, key features of Release 16 and beyond and 3GPP interfacing to vertical industries.

System Architecture and Core Network – Stephen Hayes, Director, North American Standards, Ericsson provides a 5G system architecture overview as well as an overview of key features and architectural innovations expected in Release 16.

RAN – Nokia/Emad Farag, Senior 5G Physical Standards Engineer, Nokia provides a 5G RAN standards overview on Release 15 and Release 16, including a review of functionality for New Radio (NR) Release 15, as well as the evolution of RAN capabilities to help improve the performance/business case for 5G in Release 16.
