WTSC leads the following joint standards activities:

ATIS ELOC TF

The ATIS Emergency Location (ELOC) Task Force (TF) is made up of members of WTSC and ESIF. It was established to focus on the North American specific aspects for improving emergency location capabilities and services such as location accuracy and operating environments.

IMSESINET
IMSESINET is a joint project led by the WTSC Systems and Networks (SN) subcommittee and coordinated with ESIF NGES and PTSC SAC. This joint work includes:

  • Extending ATIS-0700015 to address Multimedia Emergency Services (MMES) (WTSC Issue 44)
  • Automating Location Acquisition for Emergency Services VoIP Calls (WTSC Issue 34)

To access IMSESINET contributions, please log in to ATIS Workspace (AWS) - https://access.atis.org/kwspub/home/ and search for "WTSC-IMSESINET" documents of the current year. All members of WTSC, ESIF, and PTSC have access to these files.

JCMAS
WTSC's SN subcommittee and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR45.8 subcommittee began work on the joint Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) in 2008. This project, "JCMAS", has published multiple standards including the Commercial Mobile Alerts Service (CMAS) Specification for GSM/UMTS Using Cell Broadcast Service (ATIS-0700006), Implementation Guidelines and Best Practices for GSM/UMTS Cell Broadcast Service (ATIS-0700007), and Certification and Testing of the CMAS C-Interface (J-STD-102).

JCOEXIST
The WTSC Radio Access Networks (RAN) subcommittee is working with TIA's TR45.5 and TR45.3 subcommittees to develop a joint ATIS/TIA standard documenting the interference analysis required for radio frequency technologies that are occupying the same RF spectrum space. The project will also develop subsequent guidelines for deployment in close frequency separation or close geographical proximity.

JSMS911
Collaboration to develop an SMS to 9-1-1 service has begun between WTSC SN and TIA TR45.8. The output of this joint project, "JSMS911", will allow an SMS text user to use the publicly known 9-1-1 emergency short code to begin text communication with a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
