Description: The Home Networking Webinar will address the need for coordination and collaboration of home networking standards in the industry. With 34 standards development organizations currently working in this space, there are substantial opportunities to streamline efforts, avoid duplication and minimize expenditures. ATIS' Home Networking Webinar will objectively assess the current landscape of home networking standardization, and provide insights and solutions to this complex and multifaceted area.

Gale Lightfoot
Senior Staff Program Manager and ATIS HNET Forum Convener, Cisco Systems
Gale Lightfoot currently serves as senior staff program manager for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer in Cisco’s Service Provider Group. In this role, he assists with business development by pursuing business/technology opportunities. He is also assists in intellectual property management and development; internal collaboration of business and technology groups, and co-chairs the IPTV standards strategy.
Recently, Lightfoot served in the International Telecommunication Union – Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) IPTV Focus Group as co-chair of the end systems work group and currently serves in the ITU-T Study Group 9 as rapporteur of Q8/9. Lightfoot has worked with the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) in its home network (HNET) focus group, and currently serves as convener of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) HNET Forum.
Felipe Castro
Staff Engineer for the Technology Management Group, Qwest
Felipe Castro is a Staff Engineer at Qwest Communications. In this role, he is responsible for defining detailed technology strategy to enable new residential services, performing technology selections, qualifying and operationalizing selected technologies, and managing their introduction into the Qwest network. Additionally, he was an active Qwest representative in the ATIS TOPS Councils Home Networking Focus Group and he is now representing Qwest in the ATIS Home Networking Forum.
Felipe started his career at U S West Advanced Technologies where he contributed to the design and deploy Voice over IP services for residential and wholesale markets. Felipe joined Qwest Wireless in 2000 to contribute to design and implement data services over 3G 1x and WiFi networks. In 2005, he joined
Qwest Network Services, Access and Transport Strategies, and was responsible for identifying, evaluating and deploying new access technologies to increase Qwests footprint in residential and business markets. In this role, Felipe was also a key contributor for implementation of Qwests Auto-Configuration Server to enable remote management and troubleshooting of Qwests DSL modems.
Felipe earned a Bachelor in Science in Electrical Engineering (1996), from La Universidad Metropolitana, Caracas, Venezuela, a Master in Science in Telecommunications (1998), from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, and a Master in Business Administration (2006), from the University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado.
