ATIS Technology Forum at USTA TELECOM ‘04

Once again, ATIS provided technological education sessions for the United States Telecom Association (USTA) TELECOM ’03 Annual Conference and Exhibition. The ATIS Technology Forum featured several technology track sessions, which included opening remarks from ATIS President and CEO Susan M. Miller, a panel session with ATIS Board Chairman Bill Smith, CTO, BellSouth; Balan Nair, CTO, Qwest; Chris Rice, executive vice president – Services, and CTO, SBC Communications; and Verizon President of Network Services, Paul Lacouture. The conference was held from October 10-13 in Las Vegas.

ATIS Technology Sessions Featured at USTA TELECOM ‘03

During the United States Telecom Association (USTA) TELECOM ’03 Annual Conference and Exhibition, ATIS featured several technology track sessions, which included opening remarks from ATIS President and CEO Susan M. Miller, a keynote address delivered by Bill Smith, Chief Product Development and Technology Officer for BellSouth Telecommunications and ATIS Board Member, a Vendor Roundtable on Network Security and a panel discussion on Wide Area Ethernet and Voice over IP. The conference was held from October 11-15 in Las Vegas.

Welcome and Opening Remarks

Susan M. Miller, President and CEO of ATIS delivered opening remarks and introduced ATIS Board Member Bill Smith, Chief Product Development and Technology Officer for BellSouth Telecommunications, who kicked-off the ATIS sessions with a keynote address.

Vendor Roundtable on Network Security

Susan Schramm, Senior Vice President – Carrier Division, Siemens Information and Communications Networks and ATIS Board Second Vice Chair, moderated the Vendor Roundtable on Network Security.

Network security panelists participating in the Roundtable were Bruce Johnson, Senior Vice President – Operations & Engineering for VeriSign and ATIS Board Treasurer; Rati Thanawala, Vice President, Network Planning & Standards, Lucent Technologies; Francois Cosquer, Director, Security Research, Alcatel; James Hobson, System Architect, OAM&P for Voice over Packet Solutions and Succession Networks, Nortel Networks; and Jeff Platon, Senior Director, Technology Marketing and Network Security for Cisco Systems.

Ray Paddock, Vice President & General Manager for Intrado and an ATIS Board Member served as moderator for this session. Bill Rodey, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Engineering, HyperEdge Corporation and ATIS Board Member, discussed Wide Area Ethernet, and Rajiv Shah, Vice President, Research & Network Strategy, Alcatel discussed Voice over IP.
