The purpose of the National Electrical Safety Code that is American National Standard C2 is for the practical safeguarding of persons, utility facilities and affected property during the installation, operation and maintenance of electric supply and communications facilities safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. It is administered through the IEEE and implemented as whole, or in part, by statute, regulation or consent of jurisdictions and industries.
This presentation will focus on a review of the code making process and in particular the results of the Change Proposal meetings held in September and October of 2013. The resulting changes expected to the NESC looking forward to the 2017 code will also be reviewed along with the underlying business and technical drivers.
