Subscription Committee
Mentoring Process

The mentoring process in the Subscription Committee is designed to familiarize new or inexperienced participants with the OBF, Subscription Committee, and issue life cycle processes. There are two components to the Subscription Committee's mentoring process:

The pairing of new participants with experienced Committee members:

Mentoring is offered to all participants, not only those who are attending OBF for the first time. Any participant who would like to be paired with a mentor is asked to approach the co-leaders at any time during the OBF week. A mentor will be assigned to assist them in understanding and clarifying the terminology and processes of the Subscription Committee.

Becoming co-champion(s) on new or existing issues:

The Subscription Committee relies heavily upon the Issue Champion to present and work through their issue while the co-leads facilitate the process. Since the responsibility for the issue is on the issue champion, co-champions are encouraged to assist the champion with status history, presentation, proposals, flowcharts, etc.

By encouraging new participants to be co-champions, they quickly become part of the process and begin to understand the complexities of resolving issues among a variety of companies and personalities.

DRAFT Meeting Process Flow

Mentoring is not designed to teach specific CARE processes which are described in the CARE ISI document. Training of that nature should occur outside of the Committee.
