Listing of Major Airports for Outage Reporting
In addition to those "normal" service disruptions which carriers are required to report to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), carriers are also required to report outages affecting "special offices and facilities". These are defined as major airports, major military installations, key government facilities, nuclear power plants and 911 public service answering points. "Major airports" include any airport defined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a large or medium hub. This document provides the FAA's most recent (1997) list of large and medium hubs.
