The
Network Interconnection Interoperability Forum (NIIF) provides an
open forum to encourage the discussion and resolution, on a voluntary
basis, of industry-wide issues associated with telecommunications
network interconnection and interoperability which involve network
architecture, management, testing and operations and facilitates the
exchange of information concerning these topics.
NIIF
Purpose
The
NIIF addresses issues and develops consensus resolution which become
industry agreements. These agreements may be in the form of resolutions,
methods and procedures, practices, or other documents.

General Information:
The
NIIF has two standing committees:
Network
Inter-Operability Committee (NIOC): Comprised
of the former Network Interconnection Architecture Committee (NIAC)
and Network Operations Committee (NOC) (a combination of the former
Network Installation Maintenance Committee (NIMC) and Network
Management Committee (NMC)), the NIOC addresses issues related
to installation, maintenance, management, and testing guidelines
for interconnected telecommunications and signaling networks.
The NIOC also facilitates the exchange of information regarding
telecommunications architecture and interconnection, including
Open Network Architecture (ONA) and/or network interaction.
Network
Routing Resources Information Committee (NRRIC): Addresses
issues associated with local exchange routing mechanisms, including
associated databases, to facilitate the exchange of information
concerning this topic while maintaining the highest standards
of network routing information and integrity.
