Sam Samra joined the CDMA Development Group (CDG) as Senior Director, Technical Programs in 1998. He currently oversees the work of the various CDG technical teams that are involved in the development of CDMA features and functions, as well as new enabling technology capability and mobile applications. He also assists CDG in promoting CDMA technology worldwide and works with national and international standards bodies to ensure that CDMA interests get appropriate attention in these forums.
Sam has over 35 years of experience in the telecommunication industry in the areas of network planning, network design, network architecture, technology planning and development, technology assessment, user interfaces, system integration, and deployment of CDMA technology. Sam has been an active participant in 3GPP2 since its inception and represents CDG as Market Representative Partner. He was involved in development of IMT-2000 air interface recommendations at the ITU. Served on the OMA Board. Prior to joining the CDG, Sam was Director of Technology Planning and Development at Sprint. Sam received his MSEE from the University of Missouri-Rolla and an Executive MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City. He is a registered professional engineer in State of Ohio and Florida and is a member of IEEE.
