Vish Nandlall is a Nortel Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and the Chief Technology Officer for Carrier Networks. He is recognized within the wireless and wireline communities as a leader and expert in network and architecture evolution. Over the last year he has visibly influenced the direction of the LTE industry through his standards contributions strategy and his influence with key decision makers across the industry. In his role as Carrier Networks CTO, he has worked with 3GPP, 3GPP2, IMT-Advanced, and IETF on the combination of 802.16, 802.20, REV C/UMB, and associated IMS standards. He regularly represents Nortel at conferences, including LTE World Summit, CTIA and MWC, in presentations, keynote addresses, and panel discussions.
In his 15 years with Nortel, Vish has participated in every business within Nortel. Influencing terminals, enterprise & carrier switching, optical, and wireless architectures in such areas as BTSs, gateway evolution, metro DWDM client transport, terabit forwarding and QoS, call processing compute engines, real-time applications, speech recognition, and video codecs. Co-author of 30 patents, he drives invention & innovation with recent examples in mobile meta data, federated gateway technoligies, inter-technology handoff, L2 broadband relays, SON, and wireless backhaul.
