Meeting Announcements

This group no longer has scheduled meetings, as the work has been concluded.

The ATIS Executive Committee approved the launch of an incubator as part of ATIS’ Incubator Solutions Program to address an urgent industry need around IP-Based Separable Security.

This ATIS Incubator will create distinct solutions for meeting the objectives of the FCC as set forth in the CS Docket 97-80, Implementation of Section 304 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Commercial Availability of Navigation Devices, June 24, 1998.  The first solution to be developed is an enhancement of the CableCard standard which enables IP flows which are network technology agnostic.  This solution will be backward compatible to the existing SCTE Cablecard standard. The second solution is a common target platform for a downloadable security function which eliminates the physical device for hosting the security function and meets the security criteria defined in FIPS 140-2. When the resolutions are complete, the work will be submitted for consideration for further standardization to the ATIS IIF and other relevant groups (e.g., CEA, DVB and ITU-T), as appropriate.

ATIS has announced as of February 2009 that the IP-Based Separable Security Incubator had successfuly completed its work and is dissovled. The ATIS Executive Board is endorsing the ISSI's recommended downloadable security solution i.e. “Client Loaded into Qualified Secure Part(s) – with provision for Recoverability and Deactivation.” The work will be addressed in a new incubator program, the "IP-Based Downloadable Security Incubator [IDSI]."
