trusted network interface unit (TNIU)

TNET (see Trusted Network above) will be realized by the development of a number of components including the TNIU and ACS. The TNIU is located between the end system and the network that provides separation, integrity, access control and authentication services by means of encryption across the network and supports the operation of the TNIUs by providing them with the current security clearances such as user identification, authentication and binding to particular end systems [CESG].
