environmental security
The security that is inherent in the physical surroundings in which a facility or functional unit is located, such as on ships, on aircraft, and in underground vaults, where locations by their nature provide a certain amount of protection against exploitation of compromising emanation even before other protective measures are implemented. 2. The application of electrical, acoustic, physical, and other safeguards to an area to minimize the risk of unauthorized interception of information from the area.
