dvd
Abbreviation for digital versatile disk, formerly digital video disk. A disk, recorded with optical technology, that contains full-length (2-hour) motion pictures for viewing on a personal computer or on a TV screen (through a set-top box). Note: A dvd drive can also be used to access data files on a CD or to play an audio CD-ROM or an audio compact disk. Also written DVD.
