portrait mode
In facsimile, the mode of scanning lines across the shorter dimension of a rectangular original. Note: CCITT Group 1, 2, and 3 facsimile machines use portrait mode. 2. In computer graphics, the orientation of an image in which the shorter dimension of the image is horizontal. 3. An orientation of printed text on a page such that the lines of text are perpendicular to the long dimension of the page.
