1. In telecommunications, to convey information from one location to another. [J.Beaty, FAA] 2. Facilities associated with the carriage of OC-1 or higher level signals. 3. A process used to convey data from one point to another point or points by placing the data in defined structures (packets) in accordance with a standard or an RFC.
