Launched in 2011, ATIS’ Cloud Services Forum (CSF) focuses on the operators' provision of cloud, and the development of a framework to build large-scale, high quality network and application services. CSF develops cloud-based standard interfaces, to core network functions, further enhancing the value of provider networks. Additionally, based on industry priorities, the CSF is developing business use cases for non-traditional provider services, with the goal of accelerating global inter-provider cloud capabilities
CDN-I Initiatives:
• CDN-I Use Case Specifications report (ATIS-0200003), released June 2011:
- Focused on unicast content delivery
• Content Distribution Network Interconnection (CDN-I) Release 2 (ATIS-0200004), Released January 2012:
- Focused on multicast-based content delivery, cloud services charging and federated CDN-I
• Release 3 currently in progress:
- Focused on detailed interconnection functions and new requirements.
- Addressing multi-party environments, federation arrangements, use of “non-federated” downstream S-CDNs and any additional content types
Telepresence Initiatives:
• Cloud Framework for Telepresence Service (ATIS-0200005), released February 2012
- Providing a high level architecture and deployment models addressing two key aspects of a telepresence service: interoperability and interconnectivity
• Developing a prototype to demonstrate the interworking of telepresence services between at least two managed provider networks utilizing two different equipment suppliers, targeted for first quarter 2012.
• Addressing a second phase of work to define the cloud-based communications services architecture based on a variety of telepresence use cases involving multiple device and service configurations.
CSF continues to explore in other aspects of cloud standardization, including charging, VPN and virtual desktop.
