ATIS Awards Recognize Innovations in Business-Driven ICT Standards and Solutions
An overview of recipients’ contributions provides insight into the work that is transforming
the ICT industry

WASHINGTON — ATIS has announced the recipients of its 2014 Annual Awards, recognizing these leading technology experts and industry subject matter experts for their innovative contributions to information and communications technology (ICT) standards and solutions development and support of ATIS Forums, Committees and strategic initiatives.

“It is with great pleasure that, through these awards, we are able to publicly recognize the accomplishments of the talented and dedicated individuals who work on our Forums and Committees,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan M. Miller. “Their contributions are critical to enabling the transition to the all-IP network, delivering next generation emergency services, leveraging network intelligence, promoting energy efficiency and more. In sum, they are advancing the transformation of the information and communications technology industry.”

Awards were presented in three categories: ATIS Achievement Awards, Leadership in Standards Development Award and the President’s Award. Seven individuals received an ATIS Achievement Award. This award is presented to individuals in an ATIS Committee, Forum, or Technology and Operations Council (TOPS) initiative who, during the past year, have provided valuable contributions to the completion of ATIS solutions and standards that meet the industry’s needs. The 2014 recipients are: Margaret Livingston of TrideaWorks, Dawn Kaplan of Ericsson, Rick Canaday of AT&T, Greg Schumacher of Sprint Corporation, Mary Retka of CenturyLink, Hala Mowafy of Ericsson and Ken Biholar of Alcatel-Lucent.

The Award for Leadership in Standards Development is given to ATIS Forum or Committee leaders responsible for one or more major initiatives and whose vision and leadership over the past 12 months have resulted in the creation of ATIS solutions that meet the industry’s standardization needs in a timely and productive manner. The recipient of this award is Christian Militeau of Intrado, Chair of the Next Generation Emergency Services subcommittee of the Emergency Services Interconnection Forum, for progressing critical next generation 9-1-1 solutions.

The 2014 President’s Award was presented to Tom Anderson of Cisco Systems in recognition of his support, advice and strategic insight, which have made significant contributions over the years to ATIS and its ability to provide the industry the solutions it needs. His most recent contributions have addressed the critical areas of network optimization, big data analytics and software-defined networking.

All award recipients were recognized May 6, during the 2014 ATIS Annual Meeting of the Committees Awards Reception. The event took place at the Grand Hyatt Denver in Denver, Colorado, with more than 200 ATIS member representatives attending.

ATIS wishes to thank AT&T, Qualcomm, Sprint and Verizon for their AMOC 2014 sponsorship.
