ATIS Board of Directors Elects Sprint’s Stephen Bye and AT&T’s Marian Croak to Leadership Positions

WASHINGTON — ATIS today announced that Stephen Bye, CTO and Senior Vice President of Technology Development & Corporate Strategy with Sprint, has been elected as chair of its board of directors, and that Marian Croak, Senior VP, Domain 2.0 Architecture and Advanced Services Development, AT&T Labs, has been elected first vice-chair.

As a leading technology and solutions development organization, ATIS brings together the top global ICT companies to advance the industry’s most pressing business priorities. The ATIS board of directors defines the technology vision and path to achieving these priorities. Recent board activities have resulted in critically needed industry-wide initiatives to produce business-driven, technical and operational solutions in key areas including big data analytics, software-defined networks, dynamic network management, mobile device integrity, trust & identity, cloud services, next-generation emergency communications, cyber security, M2M and more.

“With ATIS taking on new priorities to increase the value it delivers to our member organizations, the leadership of both Stephen Bye and Marian Croak is well-timed,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller. “Bye is known as a technology visionary throughout the industry, and ATIS already has benefitted from that vision during his tenure as first vice chair. Marian Croak’s focus on innovation comes from managing the world-class team responsible for developing AT&T’s next generation network and services, metadata analytics, and advanced technologies.  ATIS' priorities align with Marian's focus, and we welcome her leadership.”

At Sprint, Stephen Bye is responsible for driving the company’s corporate and technology strategy, network architecture and global standards; innovation center and the emerging technology lab; as well as new business and service model development. Before joining Sprint, Bye was vice president of Wireless at Cox Communications. He also has held executive positions with AT&T, inCode Wireless, BellSouth International, Optus Communications and Telstra.

Marian Croak manages more than 1,500 engineers and computer scientists at AT&T.
