May 28, 2009, Washington, DC - The Alliance for Telecommunication Industry Solutions (ATIS) today recognizes Dr. Asok Chatterjee, Vice President, Strategic Standardization, Industry Relations with Ericsson Inc., on his year-long Chairmanship of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project’s (3GPP) Project Coordination Group (PCG). ATIS is 3GPP’s North American Organizational Partner, and Dr. Chatterjee has long-served as head of ATIS’ delegation to 3GPP.

As PCG’s Chairman, Dr. Chatterjee is responsible for chairing 3GPP’s Project Coordination Group’s meetings, and overseeing 3GPP’s Partner co-ordination activity. “Asok Chatterjee has long demonstrated an understanding and appreciation for standards’ vital role in enabling tomorrow’s technologies,” said Susan Miller, ATIS President and CEO. “I congratulate him on his Chairmanship, and look forward to the PCG’s continued success under Dr. Chatterjee’s direction.”

Dr. Chatterjee’s succeeds Walter Weigel, ETSI Director General, as PCG Chairman.
