ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007 Provides Latest Technical Terms and Definitions
February 14, 2008, Washington, DC- ATIS announced today the release of the ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007, which provides definitions for over 8,000 communications technology terms in a hypertext search-enabled format. The ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007 is a critical resource that establishes mutually-agreed upon facts and definitions in the fast-paced and rapidly growing field of communications technology. The ATIS Network Performance, Reliability, and Quality of Service Committee (PRQC) developed the ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007 ( ATIS-0100523.2007) as an American National Standard (ANS).
The ATIS Telecom Glossary began as United States Federal Standard 1037C published by the General Services Administration and matured into American National Standard (ANS)T1.523-2001, Telecom Glossary 2000. The new ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007 ( ATIS-0100523.2007)supersedes T1.523-2001.
“This standard meets the ongoing need for common understanding of technical terminology within the communications technology industry,” stated Mark Neibert, ATIS PRQC Chairman. “The Glossary is intended to be an easily accessible tool ATIS provides for the greater telecom community. Hundreds of members from ATIS Committees and Forums contributed to the revisions and additions so that the Telecom Glossary now represents where we are as an industry.”
The ATIS Telecom Glossary serves as a valuable reference tool for communications technology professionals and the general public, receiving the most web traffic of any Web page on the ATIS Web site. The ATIS Telecom Glossary 2007( ATIS-0100523.2007)is available free of charge at: www.atis.org/glossary.
