Announcing the ATIS-3GPP LTE Webinar:
Setting the Standard for Mobile Broadband at the Global Level
What: ATIS and 3GPP will present a Webinar entitled “LTE: Setting the Standard for Mobile Broadband at the Global Level.” The Webinar will examine Long Term Evolution (LTE) and its role in the future of mobile communications, specifically LTE’s current developmental status, the Release 8 freeze, and its real world applications. Featured speakers are LTE experts from Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and Alcatel-Lucent.
When: Thursday, December 4, 2008
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EST
Cost: Free
Webinar content: Given predictions of mobile data traffic surpassing 3,000 petabytes by 2012, faster mobile data speeds are necessary. LTE, a technology enabling peak downlink speeds exceeding 150 Mbps, has been chosen by some of the world’s premier operators as the future of wireless communications. At this upcoming ATIS Webinar you’ll learn about LTE and its role in the future of mobile communications, specifically: LTE performance, mobility and cell range, and economic targets; the use and efficiency of radio spectrum; the relationship between System Architecture Evolution (SAE) and LTE; current status and availability of the LTE specifications; update on Release 8; what the completion of LTE specifications means; an early indication of the roadmap to 4G via LTE-Advanced; and much more.
Featured presenters: Adrian Scrase, Head of the Mobile Competence Centre, Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and Derek Kuhn, Vice President of Emerging Technology & Media, Carrier Business Group, Alcatel-Lucent.
Register: Enroll online at https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=u8d8i6t5. The confirmation email will include all necessary information for joining the Webinar on the December 4.
ATIS-3GPP LTE Conference: ATIS and 3GPP will also host a two-day conference "LTE: Towards Mobile Broadband" featuring panel discussions, general sessions, initial trial results and networking opportunities. The conference will be held at the Westin City Center in Dallas, Texas on January 26-27, 2009. For more information, please visit www.atis.org/LTE.

About 3GPP
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a collaboration agreement that was established in December 1998. The collaboration agreement brings together a number of telecommunications standards bodies known as “Organizational Partners.” The current Organizational Partners are ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TTA, and TTC. The establishment of 3GPP was formalized in December 1998 by the signing of the “The 3rd Generation Partnership Project Agreement”. www.3GPP.org
A permanent project support group, called the “Mobile Competence Centre (MCC),” has been established to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of 3GPP. The MCC is based at the ETSI headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France.
