ATIS Honors 2008 Annual Award Winners
May 6, 2008, Washington, DC- ATIS congratulates the 2008 Annual Award winners honored at its Annual Meeting of the Committees held in Miami, Florida from April 28- May 2, 2008. The prestigious awards celebrate the important contributions of ATIS members to ATIS committees and forums. The awards honor several individuals who have consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to ATIS, its standards development programs and technical planning activities over the past year.
Awards were given in four categories: the ATIS Award for Distinguished Service in Communications Standards; the ATIS Award for Leadership in Standards Development; the Award for Outstanding Contributions to an ATIS Forum or Committee; and the President’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to ATIS’ Strategic Initiatives.
The Award for Distinguished Service in Communications Standards is presented to a single committee or forum participant for unique and outstanding contributions to the work of ATIS committees during a period of five or more years. Ed Eckert of Ikanos Communications is the recipient of the 2008 ATIS Award for Distinguished Service in Communications Standards.
The Leadership in Standards Development Award is awarded to a forum or committee leader whose vision and leadership over the past 12 months resulted in the creation of ATIS Standards. Dawn Kaplan of Telcordia Technologies is the winner of the 2008 Award for Leadership in Standards Development.
Sixteen individuals received an Award for Outstanding Contributions to an ATIS Forum or Committee. This award is presented to individuals who have provided valuable contributions to the completion of ATIS standards during the past year. The recipients of the 2008 ATIS Outstanding Contributions Award are as follows: Martin Dawson of Andrew Corporation; Steve Edwards of Qwest; Dennis Evans of Sprint Nextel; Tom Hicks of Intrado; Amit Kleinmann of Amdocs; Mike Lee of Nortel; Marvin Neal of AT&T; Ron Roman of Telcordia Technologies; Jim Runyon of Alcatel-Lucent; Robin Smith of Verizon; Dr. Gomer Thomas of Triveni Digital (an LG Electronics company); Tony Wasilewski of Cisco Systems; Adam Wertheimer of Telcordia Technologies; Arlynn Wilson of ADTRAN; Joe Hurlbert of Sprint Nextel; and Ray Singh of Telcordia Technologies.
The ATIS President’s Award is awarded to an individual whose support, advice, and strategic insight have made significant contributions over the years to ATIS and its ability to provide world-class standards. The winners of the 2008 President’s Award are Andrew White of Qwest and Jim McEachern of Nortel.
“This recognition is well deserved by the ATIS committee members and leaders,” said Susan Miller, ATIS President and CEO, “ ATIS’ accomplishments in the development of world-class standards would not be possible without the valuable contribution of time, effort and expertise from committee member and leaders like the individuals honored today.”
