Christopher T. Rice, Chief Technology Officer of AT&T, was re-elected as Chairman of the ATIS Board of Directors. Rice has served as the ATIS Board Chairman since January 2007.
Nick Adamo, Senior Vice President - U.S. Service Provider at Cisco, was re-elected to serve as First Vice Chair of ATIS.
Mark Wegleitner, Senior Vice President, Technology & Chief Technology Officer of Verizon, was re-elected to serve as ATIS Second Vice Chair.
Harald Braun, Head of Convergence CBT North America at Nokia Siemens was re-elected to serve as ATIS Treasurer.
Elections were also held for open seats on the ATIS Board of Directors. Newly elected to the ATIS Board Directors are Rich McBee, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Communications Business, Tektronix; and Mark Mendes, the Chairman, CEO and President of Wisor. Re-elected to the ATIS Board were Terry Metze, Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President, Spirit Telecom; Bill Ruhl, Chairman of D&E Communications; and Carl Russo, President and COO of Calix.
Terms of the elected officers and directors are January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009.The ATIS Board Officers and Directors were elected at the Annual Meeting of the Members and ATIS Board Meeting held October 25 in Washington, D.C. The ATIS Board of Directors provides the technology vision for the communications industry and defines the path for critical standards development work to support that vision. Recent activities of the ATIS Board have resulted in delivery of critically needed technical work programs designed to produce end-to-end technical and operational standards for IPTV and network convergence. Additional areas of focus for the ATIS Board in recent months include industry recommendations for IPv6, and a comprehensive analysis of G-PON-based optical access systems and specifications.
