TechThink at NXTcomm 2007 Draws Leading Service Providers and Vendors into Dialogue on Key Issues Shaping the Future of Entertainment Technology

May 24, 2007, Washington –The ATIS TechThink Technology Conference, to be held June 19–20 in Chicago in conjunction with NXTcomm 2007, will feature chief technology officers and senior executives from the communications industry’s leading service providers and vendors who will engage in a broad-ranging dialogue on the technologies that will deliver Next Generation communications and entertainment networks. TechThink is sponsored by AT&T, Verizon, Cisco, Nokia Siemens, Tellabs, Qwest, and TELUS.

Today’s converged network landscape gives users more control than ever over what they want to experience, when they want to experience it, and through which medium. “Revolutionary changes in technology are altering the user experience in ways never expected,” said Susan Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. “TechThink offers a unique value at NXTcomm. Through dynamic, interactive panel discussions, TechThink will provide an understanding of the advanced networks of the future and the emergent technologies shaping the user experience.”

By way of example, the ATIS TechThink session entitled “Security for the Rapidly Evolving Broadband Network” will present the views of leading equipment vendors and software companies with regard to the current network security landscape—one that is evolving in response to advancements in IP networks and growing bandwidth. Perspectives will be offered on the direction of security solutions, highlighting key challenges service providers should anticipate as they migrate to Next Gen applications and services.

The session is designed to be highly interactive and get to the root security issues impacting operators and customers today," said panel moderator Barry Greene, Chief SP Security Architect, Cisco. "Expect an energetic discussion which will expose the added security risk which comes with convergence. Our goal is to expose the realities all operators should be considering as they migrate their networks."

Panelists in the “Security for the Rapidly Evolving Broadband Network” session include Kim Perdikou, Executive Vice President, Infrastructure Products Group, Juniper Networks; William C. Boni, Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, Motorola Information Protection Services; Aaron Sipper, Senior Director, Product Marketing, Reef Point; Carlo Solari, Vice President for Security Solutions and Director, Bell Labs Security Solutions; and Peter Tosto, Business Line Manager, Telecom Security Solutions for IBM.

Among the 16 other expert panel sessions to be held at TechThink are those covering:

ATIS TechThink Conference registration is priced at $895, with discounts on the registration available to employees and executives of ATIS member companies, as well as member organizations of USTelecom and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
