ATIS Names New CIO Council Leaders for 2007 Term
February 22, 2007, Washington –ATIS announced today that Dick LeFave, Chief Information Officer of Sprint Nextel, is now Chairman of the ATIS Board of Directors’ Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council. Shaygan Kheradpir, Chief Communications Officer of Verizon, has been appointed to Vice Chair.
The ATIS CIO Council identifies and discusses Information Technology (IT) issues of common interest to the service provider community; frames, coordinates, and advances solutions to these common IT issues; and provides perspective and direction to the development of Industry standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Members of the CIO Council include the senior Chief Information Officers of the largest service provider companies within the ATIS membership.
Activities of the CIO Council in recent months include the identification of various requirements for use by several ATIS committees active in developing needed industry standards with regard to IT standards for IPTV, security, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. Another key area of focus for the Council is the Diversity Assurance Analysis (DAA), launched in October 2006 to evaluate and scope potential solutions that support diversity of existing National Security/Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP) communications circuits in a multi-carrier environment. The launch of the DAA followed the completion of the council’s National Diversity Assurance Initiative in 2006, which was conducted in coordination with the Federal Reserve Bank to assess the diversity of existing NS/EP communications circuits.
