ATIS and CEA Sign Liaison Agreement to Support IPTV Activities

August 16, 2006, Washington – ATIS and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) have signed a liaison agreement to further their respective work relating to IPTV and CE device standards through mutual exchange of relevant work drafts and documentation.

The liaison agreement between ATIS and the CEA will help both organizations avoid potential duplication of efforts and provide joint support to the development of IPTV standards.

The ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF) develops ATIS standards and related technical activities that enable the interoperability, interconnection and implementation of IPTV systems and services, including video on demand and interactive TV services. It recently published requirements documents for IPTV architecture and DRM.

CEA’s IPTV Oversight and Coordination Committee (OCC) is a special committee appointed by CEA’s Technology and Standards Council to prepare an IPTV Standards Roadmap for national portability of CE devices and interoperability between IPTV services and CE home networks. CEA’s IPTV Roadmap is to be published in March 2007.
