ACTA Unveils Updated Website With Increased Functionality
Improved Online Filing System Easier for Users
November 15, 2005, Washington – The Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA) has announced the launch of its redesigned website (www.part68.org), including a revamped ACTA Online Filing (AOF) system.
The site has been redesigned to enhance its functionality and increased ease of use for all visitors, including those with disabilities, as well as updating the overall “look and feel.”
The AOF system, which allows communications companies approving Telephone Terminal Equipment (TTE) to submit their filings online, is available via the ACTA web site at www.part68.org under the “Online Filing” drop-down menu.
New features to the AOF are designed to increase user productivity by decreasing the amount of time needed by an authorized submitter to file, revise, maintain and edit information filed to the ACTA database of approved Part 68 terminal equipment. Upgrades to AOF are also intended to minimize the number of filing errors to the database.
The ACTA was established in 2000 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to take over the administrative duties with respect to maintaining a database of approved terminal equipment and adopting and publishing technical criteria for connecting telephone equipment to the telephone network (Part 68). The FCC requires TTE equipment to be submitted to the ACTA-maintained database of Part 68 approved equipment before connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and certain private-line services.
The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) serve as co-sponsors of the ACTA.
Any inquiries regarding the ACTA or the use of the new Part68.org website and AOF system may be made by email to the ACTA Secretariat (acta@atis.org), or by telephone at (202) 628-6380.
