ATIS and TTA Sign Agreement to Share Standards Work

August 30, 2005, Washington – ATIS today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) to coordinate standards development for applications in the global telecom industries of the United States and Korea.

The MOU updates previous liaison agreements between ATIS and TTA, the leading telecommunications technical standards bodies in North America and Korea, respectively. The agreement opens avenues for the sharing of work products, contributions to regional and global standards bodies, the protection of each organization’s Intellectual Property Rights and the participation of their respective members in hosted or sponsored events.

“As we move into the next generation of communications standards, it is vital that global standards are created to ensure the seamless flow of NGN applications,” said Susan Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. “This agreement is a culmination of years of collegial cooperation between ATIS and TTA, but is of particular significance as international communications networks become more integrated.”

The MOU was signed by Miller and Hong Koo Kim, secretary-general of TTA, at the Global Standards Collaboration Meeting in Nice, France.
