Inaugural Meeting of ATIS’ IPTV Interoperability Forum Scheduled

First Meeting Open to Interested Industry Participants

August 15, 2005, Washington – ATIS today announced that its IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF), an industry standards-setting body for IPTV, will hold its first meeting September 13-14, 2005, at the Hilton Hotel Embassy Row in Washington.

The September meeting will be open to interested members of industry companies, including carriers, service providers, content providers, equipment manufacturers and others with a stake in the technical standardization of IPTV. Future meetings will be limited to Forum member companies.

IIF’s initial focus will be the creation of an industry overall reference architecture for IPTV; content delivery (quality of experience); digital rights management (DRM); interoperability standards and testing requirements for components; reliability and robustness of service components; and the establishment of user expectations.

“The IIF provides the industry with a place for the carriers, service providers, application developers, content providers and equipment manufacturers to assess and coordinate standards activities for IPTV technologies in the context of the next-generation network,” said Susan Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. “Technical cooperation and standardization is necessary for wide-scale deployment of IPTV. IIF will develop technical reports and ATIS standards, as well as liaise with outside groups to ensure interoperability of standards.”
