ATIS’ President/CEO Susan Miller Presents ATIS’ Industry Standardization Activities at PA Telephone Association

Strategic Value of ATIS Standards is Topic

June 30, 2005, Washington – ATIS president and CEO Susan Miller outlined the strategic value of standards work to the industry during a general session address to the Pennsylvania Telephone Association at the group’s 103rd Annual Convention June 29, 2005.

Miller’s speech touched on the key focus areas for ATIS standards and the executive-driven focus of ATIS’ activities supporting standardization of VoIP, Wide Area Ethernet, Mobile Wireless Services, Security Issues and Data Interchange, as well as technical planning activities supporting a global NGN architecture and IPTV.

“Opportunities like this are an excellent way to get the ATIS message in front of a wide range of industry representatives,” Miller said. “ ATIS standards are strategically aligned to ease the implementation of end-to-end interoperable solutions. That translates into more flexibility and faster-time-to-market for companies that build to standards.”

“It is important for service providers not active in standards work to be up-to-speed on the technology path of the industry,” Miller continued. “Understanding how standards activities conducted in ATIS and its standards committees impact their purchasing and deployment decisions helps telecom companies make crucial business decisions.”
