Tim Jeffries Named ATIS Vice President for Technology and Development
January 3, 2005, Washington, D.C. – ATIS announced today the promotion of Tim Jeffries to the position of Vice President for Technology and Development. In his new role, Jeffries will be responsible for directing all activities supporting the work of the ATIS Technology and Operations Council – a committee of the ATIS Board of Directors that identifies and coordinates standardization activities addressing the industry’s most critical technical and operational priorities.
Jeffries’ new responsibilities will include the project implementation of the ATIS TOPS standardization work plans released this year by the TOPS Council, which support the coordination of needed standards work for five key industry priorities: VoIP; Data Interchange; Network Security; Wide Area Ethernet; and Mobile Wireless Services.
Additionally, Jeffries will be responsible for the ATIS Incubator Solutions Program, the development of ATIS technical programs, and for the overall administration of several ATIS standards committees, to include the IMSI Oversight Council; the Interactive Voice Response Forum; and the Emergency Service Interconnection Forum.
“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Tim Jeffries to Vice President for Technology Development. Tim’s leadership and hard work has been instrumental to the successful establishment and implementation of the ATIS Technology and Operations Council, which is leading industry efforts to create business-driven standards and solutions for the industry’s most critical technical and operational priorities,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan M. Miller. “We look forward to his continued work and his expanded role within the ATIS organization.”
Jeffries career in telecommunications spans 18 years. Prior to joining ATIS, Jeffries served as the director of certification programs for the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). While at CTIA, Jeffries was responsible for redesigning the current wireless terminal certification program for the wireless industry, and managing the wireless industry's product certification program, as well as product certification programs for Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS), ANSI-136, cdmaOne, and GSM-1900 terminal units.
Prior to his work at CTIA, Jeffries was employed with GTE, where he managed and conducted product evaluations and reported compliance to federal and independent standardization agencies and bodies.
