ATIS Publishes Exchange Message Interface Guidelines

February 27, 2004, Washington, D.C. – ATIS – the leader in communications and information technology standards development – today announced that its Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF) Message Processing Committee has published the new Exchange Message Interface, Issue 21 guidelines.

The Exchange Message Interface (EMI) document provides a unique but common method for the exchange of telecommunications messages and information sharing between service providers and billing companies for billing and tracking analysis. Through its guidelines, service providers and billing companies are provided with a structure for the transfer of billing data via multiple unique record layouts. This framework is critical since each record layout message contains important customer billing data, account summary details and tracking analysis.

ATIS’ Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF) provides a forum for customers and providers in the communications industry to identify, discuss and resolve national issues which affect ordering, billing, provisioning and the exchange of information about access services, connectivity and related matters.

The EMI guidelines are available via the ATIS Document Center at www.atis.org. OBF Funding Companies may download electronic documents from the OBF Funding Company Password-Protected web site www.atis.org/atis/clc/obf/download.htm.
