ATIS Board of Directors Welcomes Senior
Executives From NEC America, ADTRAN, and MCI
October 31, 2003, Washington, D.C. – ATIS
- the leader in communications and information technology standards
development - is pleased to announce that Allen Levine, Kevin
Schneider, and Jack Wimmer recently joined the ATIS board of
directors, serving as representatives for NEC America, ADTRAN,
and MCI respectively as ATIS continues to prioritize, coordinate
and accelerate its priority standards work.
Levine is Vice President of NEC America, Schneider is Chief
Technical Officer of ADTRAN, and Wimmer is Vice President for
MCI.
“We’re extremely pleased to have these companies
join ATIS, and we look forward to their active involvement within
ATIS and on the board of directors,” said Susan M. Miller,
president and CEO of ATIS. “By becoming ATIS members, NEC
America, ADTRAN, and MCI will have the opportunity to work with
the communications industry’s leading senior executives
who are actively involved in the ATIS Technical and Operations
(TOPS) Council which is the driving force behind creating interoperable,
implementable, end-to-end solutions for the industry’s
most critical priorities.”
Over the last 12 months, ATIS has embarked on a new strategic
direction led by Ross Ireland, Senior Executive Vice President,
Services and CTO for SBC, and ATIS Board Chairman. This effort
has included the launch of the ATIS TOPS Council, chaired by
Bill Smith, Chief Product Development and Technology Officer
for BellSouth. The TOPS Council has reached consensus on the
industry's 16 most critical priorities, including the five deemed
most critical – Voice over IP, Mobile Wireless Services,
Wide Area Ethernet, Network Security, and Data Interchange. ATIS
has also established Focus Groups as part of this strategic direction
to address standardization requirements for the five key industry
priorities.
