Tellabs President Ed Kennedy and net.com VP Craig Forbes Join ATIS Board of Directors

July 8, 2003, Washington, D.C. – ATIS – the leader in communications standards development – is pleased to announce that Tellabs and net.com have joined ATIS as member companies. Representing their respective companies on the ATIS Board of Directors are Ed Kennedy, President of North America Operations and Executive Vice President for Tellabs and Craig Forbes, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for net.com.

“We’re extremely pleased to have these companies involved at a time when ATIS is creating a new environment for prioritizing, coordinating and developing critical communications standards,” said Susan M. Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. “The leadership on the ATIS Board of Directors continues to grow and includes the senior most executives from leading wireline and wireless service providers, manufacturers, and software providers.”

Over the last 12 months, ATIS has embarked on a new strategic direction led by Ross Ireland, Senior Executive Vice President – Services for SBC, and ATIS Board Chairman. This effort has included the launch of the ATIS Technical and Operations (TOPS) Council, chaired by Bill Smith, Chief Product Development and Technology Officer for BellSouth. The TOPS Council has reached consensus on the industry's 16 most critical priorities, including the five deemed most critical – Voice over IP, Mobile Wireless Services, Wide Area Ethernet, Network Security, and Data Interchange. ATIS has also established Focus Groups as part of this strategic direction to address standardization requirements for the five key industry priorities.

For more information about the ATIS TOPS Council, contact Tim Jeffries at tjeffries@atis.org or visit the ATIS Web site at www.atis.org.
