Administrative
Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA) Announces Online Filing
for Telephone Terminal Equipment Certification
January 28, 2003, Washington, D.C. - The Administrative
Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA) announced the availability
of the ACTA Online Filing (AOF) system, which allows communications
companies certifying Telephone Terminal Equipment (TTE) to submit
their filings online. The FCC requires TTE equipment to be submitted
to the ACTA-maintained database of Part 68 approved equipment
before connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
and certain private-line services.
The AOF system is available via the ACTA web site at www.part68.org.
The AOF system supports the following TTE submission types: Original
Filings, Modification Filings, Notice of Change Filings, Re-Certification
Filings and Requests for Responsible Party Codes. Credit cards
are accepted for payment. In addition, users have the ability
to upload Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB) certificates
and Suppliers Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) certificates. Upon
submittal of a TTE filing, users will receive an e-mail confirmation
noting their submission was entered in the Part 68 database.
A tutorial of the AOF system is available for first-time users,
and is available at www.part68.org/Filing_Walkthru.cfm.
Questions regarding the AOF system may be directed to AOFQuestions@atis.org.
The ACTA is the industry council for terminal equipment certification
requirements and administration established following the FCC's
decision to privatize its Part 68 responsibilities in December
2000. The council is responsible for adopting and publishing technical
criteria for terminal equipment, and operating and maintaining
a database of approved terminal equipment, among other duties.
The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS)
and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) serve as
ACTA's co-sponsors. For more information, contact the ATIS Director
for ACTA, Tim Jeffries at tjeffries@atis.org.
