ATIS Security Summit to Convene Communications Network Leaders Addressing Network Security Vulnerabilities and Protection
November 25, 2002, Washington, D.C. - Senior executives and officials from wireline and wireless Service Providers, Internet Service Providers, the U.S. Government and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) will be among the participants at ATIS' "Security of Service Provider Infrastructure in an Era of Convergence" Summit to be held February 4-5 2003 in Washington, DC. The two-day summit will explore the key technical and operational security issues facing existing and future network infrastructures.
"Security is a recurring theme when it comes to protecting our nation's core communications infrastructure," said Susan M. Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. "The ATIS Security Summit will bring together the right experts to examine the critical security standards needed to ensure end user, enterprise and service provider network security."
William L. Smith, President - Interconnection Services & Chief Technology Officer for BellSouth Telecommunications will moderate a panel discussion entitled, "Service Provider Perspectives on Security," on Day One of the Summit. The panel will bring together executives from some of the largest wireline and wireless carriers to identify how interoperable and scalable security solutions can be provided and maintained within multi-service provider networks.
Following the Service Provider panel discussion, William Ruhl, CEO of D&E Communications, Inc., and member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC), will moderate the panel discussion entitled, "Government and Service Provider Perspectives on Security." This panel will bring together executives from cable, Internet Service Providers, and the U.S. Government to discuss how to access information securely and reliably within core infrastructure networks.
Upon completion of the Service Provider sessions, technical sessions will convene to examine how Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) can continue to develop technical solutions for end-users, enterprises, service providers, manufacturers and network operators to utilize in addressing specific security threats.
