ATIS' OBF Launches "DSL Standardization Workshop" to Speed Ordering and Delivery of DSL Services to ISPs
Members include ISPs, ILECs, CLECs
August 15, 2002, Washington, D.C. - Internet Service Providers (ISPs) eager to deploy DSL services at a quicker and more affordable rate to their customers now have an opportunity to standardize the burdensome processes of ordering and delivering DSL services. Through the ATIS' Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF) new "DSL Standardization Workshop," ISPs will be able to collaborate with leading ILECs and CLECs to discuss and develop ordering standards to facilitate the DSL ordering process.
"If an ISP desires to launch DSL services for its customers, the current ordering process requires interfacing with a minimum of nine different ordering systems to place an order for a national rollout," said John Pautlitz, director of the OBF. "The OBF DSL Standardization Workshop provides a venue for standardizing the appropriate platforms and protocols necessary to transmit data between ISPs, ILECs and CLECs in order to significantly reduce time and costs associated with delivering DSL services."
"We are delighted to play a key role in this important workshop," said Jennifer Hancock, General Manager for DIRECTV Broadband and chairperson of the DSL Standardization Workshop. "With the ongoing national significance placed on the deployment of broadband as an economic generator, it is imperative that industry members have a coordinated effort to ensure a streamlined and effective process for consumer satisfaction."
The inaugural OBF DSL Standardization Workshop will be held from August 20-21, 2002, during the OBF 79 Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ. For more information on the DSL Workshop, contact OBF Director, John Pautlitz at jpautlitz@atis.org.
The OBF is an ATIS-sponsored industry forum where representatives of the telecommunications industry identify, discuss and resolve national issues which affect ordering, billing, provisioning, and the exchange of information about access service and other connectivity and related matters.
