Standards Committee T1 Announces Election Results
March 18, 2002, Washington, D.C. - The members of Standards Committee T1, a telecommunications network standards development organization sponsored by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), announced election results for leaders of their full committee and six technical subcommittees. The elections were held at the group's annual meeting March 7-8, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ.
Ray Hapeman, Telecordia Technologies, and Wayne Zeuch, Lucent Technologies, were re-elected to serve their second consecutive terms as Committee T1 chair and vice chair respectively.
The new and re-elected T1 technical subcommittee leaders serving two-year terms are:
Performance & Signal Processing (T1A1) - Randy Wohlert, SBC Communications, elected to his first two-year term as chair; and former T1A1 Chair Neal Seitz, NTIA/ITS, elected to his first two-year term as vice chair.
Interfaces, Power & Protection for Networks (T1E1) - Rick Townsend, Lucent Technologies, formerly vice chair, elected to his first two-year term as chair; and Ed Eckert, Catena Networks, former T1E1 chair, elected to his first two-year term as vice chair.
Internetwork Operations, Administration, Maintenance, & Provisioning (T1M1) - Mike Fargano, Qwest, chair; and Jim Stanco, Siemens Information and Communications Networks, Inc., vice chair, both re-elected to their second two-year terms.
Wireless/Mobile Services and Systems (T1P1) - Asok Chatterjee, Ericsson, chair; and Mark Younge, VoiceStream Wireless, vice chair, both re-elected to their second two-year terms.
Services, Architectures & Signaling (T1S1) - Bob Hall, SBC Communications,
Inc., chair; and Greg Ratta, Lucent Technologies, both re-elected to their second
two-year terms.
Digital Hierarchy & Synchronization (T1X1) - Ken Biholar, Alcatel USA, formerly vice chair, elected to his first term as chair; and Mark Jones, Sprint-LDD, vice chair, elected to his first two-year term.
Additionally, new or re-elected officers serving interest groups include:
Exchange Carrier Representative/Alternate - Leroy Kellogg, Sprint, elected to his first two-year term as representative. Jim Eitel, Qwest, elected to his first two-year term as alternate representative.
Interexchange Carrier Representative/Alternate - Jim Lord, Sprint-LDD, re-elected to a two-year term as representative. Martin Carroll, WorldCom, elected to his first two-year term as alternate representative.
User & General Interest Representative - Jay Melvin, Cingular Wireless, re-elected to a two-year term.
Manufacturing Representative/Alternate - Quent Cassen, Conexant Sytems, re-elected to a two-year term as representative. Bob Slocum, Ericsson, elected to his first two-year term as alternate representative.

interoperability, and performance. Committee T1 provides technical input to
the United States Department of State supporting U.S. participation in international
