ATIS-sponsored Industry Numbering Committee Elects 2002 Leadership
December 5, 2001, Washington, D.C. - The ATIS-sponsored Industry Numbering
Committee (INC) - an open forum that resolves telecom numbering resource, allocation,
assignment and planning issues for the North American Numbering Plan (NANP)
area - recently announced its leadership election results.
Participating member companies of INC selected David Bench of Nortel Networks as INC Moderator, and Rose Travers of the United States Telecom Association (USTA) as Assistant Moderator. Bench served as the Assistant Moderator in 2001 and will succeed the out-going Moderator, Norman Epstein of Verizon.
Bench is employed in the Strategic Standards Group of Nortel Networks as a
Senior Advisor - Industry Forums. He represents Nortel in a number of ATIS-sponsored
committees and forums, as well as the North American Numbering Council (NANC),
a Federal Communications Commission advisory body. Bench holds a First Class
Certification in Telephone Engineering by the National Association of Radio
and Telecommunications Engineers (NARTE) with an endorsement in Traffic Engineering.
Travers is currently USTA Staff Director responsible for member company interests on numbering matters at the Federal level. She has served in various leadership positions within the INC structure and is the USTA alternate member on the NANC. She previously served in various positions dealing with area code relief, central office code allocations, and interconnection agreements with Winstar Communications, Lockheed Martin, and Bell Atlantic.
Terms for the newly elected Moderators began on November 29, 2001.
