Gentlemen... reference MAJ Roos' reply, in short:
1. Re: Freq Approval - we are approved for 900 Mhz in
Bagram - J6 will
double tap the other locations
2. Phone Purchase Option: Yes phones were purchased by
180. 30 secure
and 100 GSM - According to MAJ Roos
they will be coming to BAF - not
Kabul. I suggest we
purchase more phones as no doubt the subscriber
levels
will increase in time. Don't forget we need these phones branded
as we have to start leveraging our good name.
The entire response follows:

Subject: Going Forward Action
Items
Good morning CPT.... As the entire project (one site at Bagram,
three
sites at Kabul) is now funded it's best if we
approach the following
issues and questions on a network
level as we'll have to contend with
these issues at all
sites including Kandahar, which I understand will be
funded at some point in the future.
The issues we need to resolve at Bagram and all other sites are
as
follows;
1. Frequency Approval for 900 Mhz GSM spectrum. I have the
technical
spec for the radio and I'll send it to you in
a seperate email. Need to
get the Army's Frequency
Manager involved ASAP. You are approved for
900
Mhz in Bagram - we will double tap the other location
2. Aviation approval for antenna mast location (if
applicable) We will
look into..
3. Site Location - for Bagram it appears a well suited
location is the
TFC Southern Node (sp?). A decision as
to the shelter type is required.
North TCF - This is the
one that you were at.
4. Numbering Plan - our preference would be to have a seperate
nxx with
a block of 1000 numbers for
flexability i.e. 318-nxx-0000 to 9999. We
also
need to be aware of any unique site specific dialing patterns. For
example
We will get you a block of numbers.
Emergency 911
Information Services
411
Trunk Access codes, for example 99 world wide
commercial access, 98
Germany commercial access
etc.
Also I need to know if funding includes the purchase of phones,
as this
was an option in the proposal. Please let me
know if this has been
funded and if so how many phones
(regular and secure) for each site.
Yes phones were
purchased by 180. 30 secure and 100 GSM - They will be
coming to BAF - not Kabul.
5. Physical and Signalling interface into the Redcom IGX. I
understand
T1 is the transport, we need to know the
physical (RJ45??) connection
and the signalling protocol
(ISDN??)
Points 1, 4 and 5 are crucial and required in order to allow
our
engineering team to build a functional database in a
timely manner.
Quick responses to these questions will
go a long way in shortening the
lead time to
cutover.
